.MATCH REPORT'S
GIRLS U14 E.K.LEAGUE
Legion 2-7 Milltown 3-5
The u14 girls commenced their E.K.league campaign with a narrow one pt.defeat away to Milltown on Thurs.last.The game was played in perfect conditions and was full value for money with both teams giving their all and playing some fine football.Sophie Smyth in goal once again turned in a great display, while full backs Katherine Coffey,Chloe Coffey and Treasa Sheehan defended tirelessly throughout.Half backs Leanne Pierce,Amy Coffey and Ellie Davies defended and attacked with equal effectiveness. At midfielfd we had two stars in Christina Carolan, who kicked 5 pts.from play and a very impressive Isabelle Corridan - still u12 - played with a maturity well beyond her years. The youthful Elizabeth Mohan had a personal tally of 2-1,well assisted by Andrea McCarthy and Ellen McGillicuddy. The full forward line of Sinead Tagney,Emma Murphy and Chloe Enright were full of endeavour and fought right to the end.A word of praise also for Aoife Doona,Maud Looney and Shania Cosgrove all who contributed handsomely when introduced.Despite the result an encouraging start by the girls.
BOYS U13 E.K.LEAGUE
Legion 0-10 Kenmare 1-11
Playing against the wind in the first half the Legion turned in a fine team performance and led 8pts.to 5 at the break, the margin could have and should have been greater but for the forwards tendency to shoot for goals when points would have been the wiser option. In the second half we still held the upper hand possession wise but failed to transfer this to the scoreboard.Kenmare then struck for a goal that brought them level and taking re-newed heart from this drove home their advantage and added 4 pts.to see them win by that margin.
