JOHN C. COOPER R.I.P.
Last week saw the Legion lose one of it's truely talented sportsmen with the death of John C.Cooper.In his day John C.represented Kerry at minor, junior and senior level winning an All Ireland junior medal along with clubmate Mixi Palmer in 1949.He also holds a record that very few could match in that he held Co.Championship medals in football, basketball and boxing.Gifted and competitive in many sports he was an excellent rugby player - a sport he took up when attending Rockwell College, and of course as a golfer he had few equals. He competed against the best and at one time returned a 68 followed by a
67 in the Pro-am International tournament in Woodbrook,Dublin.Though only 5'5'' and small of stature John C.was a man of many talents but remained modest and unassuming. He will always be fondly remembered as one of Killarney and the Legion's greatest sons.Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
