Score Legion 1-06 Rangers 2-03.

The replay turned out to be an anti-climax for the Legion losing on a score of Rangers 1-07 Legion 0-05. This was the year Legion “had arrived and in doing so thrilled thousands”.

The following year 1946 all the pieces fell into place. In the county final, Legion defeated John Mitchell’s Tralee on a score of Legion 0-07 / Mitchell’s 0-05.

The following was the team:
• T. Cooper
• D. Lyne • J. Fleming • J.Wade
• J. Sheehan • J. Palmer • D. Baily

• Fr. M. Lyne (Captain) • T. Lyne • T. Hurley

Mr. J. Moriarty Refereed and the game drew a gate of
£203.00.

This meant that the club could nominate the captain of the Kerry team for the following year 1947. The honour went to Denny Lyne of Cleeney.

1993 was to prove a very successful year for the Club. The senior team won their way to the county League (Division One) football final. In the final played in the Fitzgerald Stadium on Sunday 14th November.

Legion met old rivals Dr. Crokes. In these years Dr. Crokes had been tremendously successful and were County and All-Ireland Club Champions.

All this success made Dr. Crokes favourites.

Legion who were starved of County success since 1946 were also keen to win. Legion led from the start and the game ended in a welter of excitement as Crokes almost pulled off a 'Houdini' like act taking a one point lead in the 59th minute. Legion showed great character in battling back and were rewarded when John McGillicuddy blasted the ball to the Crokes net. In so doing writing his name into the Club's history books so securing a well merited win for the Legion.

Score: Legion 2-12 Dr.Crokes 2-10
